Airtel and Tigo will tonight unveil officially the name and logo of the new body following the merger of the two companies. This announcement comes weeks after the National Communications Authority (NCA) officially approved the merger.
Tonight’s announcement will also climaxe the human resource plan for the new body which involves skills assessment of staff of both companies. The meeting is said to have led to anxiety among workers of Tigo and Airtel. Notwithstanding the official unveiling of the new company name and logo, executives for the merged body will also be officially out doored today.
Airtel’s marketing director, Rosy Fynn explains that it will extend beyond a year before the merger process will be completed.
Rosy Fynn is confident that the move is necessary for building strong companies in the telecommunication industry.
With the approval of the merger by the NCA last month, the MD of Tigo’s Telecommunication Company, Roshi Motman has since been named as the CEO of the new body whiles Airtel’s MD, Lucy Quist has resigned from the company. Nevertheless, some workers have begun making moves to exit the organisation .
According to them, the new organization has created a situation that may require one person occupying some top management positions even though the two companies already have people in those positions.
Mr. Austin Gamey Labour Expect, believes the need to cut down on the workforce may be due to new strategies.
The successful closing will see both companies hold equal ownership and governance rights in the combined organization.
The new body after the merger is set to be seen as the second largest telecommunication company in the country.
