Andreas Christensen blames Cesc Fabregas for Lionel Messi’s goal
Chelsea gifted Barcelona an advantage in their Champions League tie as Andreas Christensen’s error led to Lionel Messi’s equaliser.
Willian had given Chelsea the lead at Stamford Bridge, while Barcelona were struggling to create clear-cut chances throughout the match.
But the Premier League champions were punished for one lapse in concentration and Messi was on hand to rescue a 1-1 draw for Barca.
Christensen sparked Barcelona’s equaliser with a pass across his own box towards Cesc Fabregas.
The Spanish midfielder allowed the ball to run through and Andreas Iniesta managed to secure possession ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta. Iniesta was then able to cut the ball back to Messi, who finished neatly past Thibaut Courtois.
As the Argentine wheeled away to celebrate in front of Barcelona’s fans, Christensen was spotted gesturing towards Fabregas, clearly indicating that he wanted his Chelsea teammate to control the pass.
And some Chelsea fans agree that Fabregas was the player at fault, rather than Christensen who played the risky pass in front of his own goal.
